10 take-aways from today’sAnkeny Area Chamber of CommerceMentoring for Women that I think are good reminders for everyone: 1. Slow down and be in the present. It’s easy to get caught up in the to-do lists and what is coming up. 2. Make sure to celebrate your personal and professional wins, no matter how big or small. If you fixed something, or your team did well on a project make it a big deal. 3. “Courage is not the absence of fear, it’s the action you take in the midst of fear.” 4. Lose your secretary voice! Find your balance between being professional and being yourself. 5. Reflect on how far you have come, because you are resilient. 6. “Everyone always says reach out to me if you need anything… when is the last time you actually reached out?” 7. Make sure you have something to look forward to after work, because your job doesn’t define you – your passions do. And if your passion is your job, make sure it adds creativity to your life. 8. Reframe (rework the problem areas), seek (look for new ways to connect and try something new) and anchor (eliminate distractions from where you currently are) when you feel like you have no momentum. 9. “Are you carrying something you were not meant to carry alone?” 10. Stay curious and be ready to take a leap when things are not suiting you.
